Lila is a talented doggo. But her skills fall outside the usual things trained dogs do. Lila does not play dead or give high fives to entertain humans.
What she does is more important. Lila is an accomplished diver. She uses her diving skills to clean polluted oceans with her human, Alex Schulze.
Alex is the founder of non-profit organization 4Ocean. The group sells bracelets made from recycled trash from the sea. Alex made Lila an honorary member of the group.
That happened after Alex noticed Lila’s diving skills. In 2016, Lila gained internet fame after diving for a lobster crawling on the ocean floor. From diving for lobsters, Lila has transitioned to a more noble cause.
That’s an impressive dog right there. But it took time and dedication for Lila to become what she is now. Please watch the video below to get to know Lila and her admirable journey.
Alex trained Lila to become a skilled diver. The duo began training in shallow human-made pools. Alex used toys to train his dog.
Alex would toss a toy into a pool, and Lila would fetch the toy for him. Alex increased the depths Lila had to dive while they went on with the training.
The duo also swam laps underwater. The goal was to train Lila to hold her breath longer. Soon enough, the dog was ready for her mission.
Now Lila joins Alex on cleanup missions in the middle of the ocean. The dog dives for plastic water bottles, soda cans, and whatnot. When they are not out to sea, they are driving through coastlines, looking for beaches in need of cleaning.
Lila rides in her wolf wagon pulled by Alex’s motorbike. Yes, this partnership is admirable, to say the least. To find out more about 4Ocean, please visit their website: 4ocean.com.
